Paths That Last: Collaborating for Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean

The value of collaboration, as a lever for sustainable tourism, brought together in Split, Croatia, on 25 June 2025, representatives of eight (8) Interreg Programmes, participating in the “Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism”, including “Interreg VI-A Greece-Cyprus”, which is managed by the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027, together with the Interreg programmes “Euro-MED”, “Italy-Croatia”, “Italy-Slovenia”, “Italy-France Maritime”, “Italy-Malta”, “Italy-Tunisia” and “NEXT MED”.

The aim of the event entitled was to support the joint effort for:
☑️ Boosting sustainable tourism development
☑️ Strengthening partnerships across borders
☑️ Linking with EU strategies
☑️ Empowering local communities & youth

The Secretary General of Partnership Agreement (ESPA), Ms. Vasiliki Pantelopoulou, who participated in the event representing the Hellenic National Authority, stated that “the strategic orientation towards collaboration ensures the significant participation of the beneficiaries, with tangible results for citizens”.

Moreover, the Programme Joint Secretariat’s communication officer took part in the first-round table, entitled “Stronger together: experience the Multi-Programme Mediterranean Mechanism”, together with other representatives that shared their experience in addressing joint activities included in the relevant Action Plan for 2024-2025.

The event included speeches, round tables, workshops, etc., and gave the opportunity to participants to submit comments and questions.
