Two crucial Operations of Strategic Importance were approved in the context of “Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy 2021-2027” by the Programme’s MC members, managed by the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027.
➡️ The BREATH project -Building Cross-Border Resilience and Prevention Against Natural and Environmental Hazards- (SO 2.4) unites regional authorities and civil protection agencies from Greece and Italy to address shared vulnerabilities in the Ionian-Adriatic area. By focusing on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and environmental protection, BREATH enhances cross-border cooperation to safeguard coastal communities, critical infrastructures, and natural ecosystems. A key priority involves upgrading early warning systems and response capacities through new monitoring tools, pilot infrastructure works, and specialized equipment.
➡️ The main general objective of the CHORA project (SO 4.6) -Cultural Hubs for Open and Regenerative Arts- is the preservation and the valorization of the rich cross border cultural asset of Greece and Italy. The project also aims to establish a permanent dialogue between the parties through the creation of a cultural network that will foster sustainable cross-border economic and social development and will take advantage of the existing dynamic of the area. This will be achieved through the establishment of a cross-border network of multifunctional creative and cultural hubs, boosting the dialogue and the cooperation between the two countries.
