Today (20 January 2026), the “Dimario-Rudozem” Greek-Bulgarian border road section officially opens to traffic, strengthening connectivity between regions in Greece and Bulgaria and improving everyday mobility for people, businesses, and communities.

This road is more than a transport link. It is a tangible result of cross-border cooperation, building on the “CrossBo” project, implemented under the “Interreg Greece-Bulgaria” programme during the previous programming period, which set the foundations for safer, more accessible, and better-connected border areas on both sides.

The journey continues with “CrossBo2”, an operation of strategic importance implemented under the “Interreg Greece-Bulgaria 2021-2027” Programme and managed by the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027, transforming strategic cooperation into real, lasting benefits for citizens and regions.

From planning to implementation, EU-funded cooperation is making borders places of connection.
