Interreg: Five Borders, Twenty-Six Regions, One Shared Europe
The General Secretariat of Partnership Agreement and the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027 invite you to the event “Interreg: Five Borders, Twenty-Six Regions, One Shared Europe”, taking place on 6 September 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00 (local time), at Pavilion 13 of the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), as part of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance’s participation in the Fair.
The event will open with a Welcome Speech by Nikos Papathanasis, Alternate Minister of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance, followed by a session on “Cohesion Policy and European Territorial Cooperation – present and future”, with Vasiliki Pantelopoulou, Secretary General of Partnership Agreement (ESPA), and Maria Sioliou, DG REGIO – European Commission.
Through the session “Interreg Talks: The Voice of Cooperation”, five Regional Governors and five project beneficiaries will share their perspectives and experiences on how Interreg cooperation is addressing common challenges and delivering tangible results across the Programme areas. The discussion will cover Social Cohesion, Civil Protection, Health, Culture and Tourism, and Circular Economy, featuring the projects ΜΠΟΡΩ (I CAN) | Interreg Greece-Cyprus, FLOODGUARD2 | Interreg Greece-Bulgaria, ElderCare | Interreg Greece-North Macedonia, CHORA and OnSea | Interreg Greece-Italy, and CIRCLE and DIGITAL | Interreg Greece-Albania.
The discussion will feature Stavros Arnaoutakis, Regional Governor of Crete; Christodoulos Topsidis, Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace; Athina Aidona, Regional Governor of Central Macedonia; Alexandros Kachrimanis, Regional Governor of Epirus; and Georgios Amanatidis, Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, alongside representatives of the participating projects.
The event will conclude with the presentation of “Bridge for EU” by Maria Nezeriti, Head of the Managing Authority Interreg 2021-2027, focusing on a new mechanism for removing cross-border obstacles between Greece, Bulgaria, Italy and Cyprus.
